big green egg owner here, they have their pros & cons.
if you just want to do slow & low smoking/bbq then a webber smoky mountain is probably a better bet for most people. It's also cheaper and infinitely more portable.

Having said that. I love my big green egg and it also excels at high temp cooking 600 + degrees
