I went to a KFC buffet over 20 years ago when popcorn chicken was all the rage. Must have eaten 2 pounds of it, plus a few pieces of extra crispy and a piece or two of original recipe. I don't eat potatoes or biscuits at a buffet - those are cheap fillers and I want to get my money's worth.

Long story short, later that night I could feel each beat of my heart, like it was legitimately struggling to pump blood. And then the shits started. It started out like mud, but soon it was so watery I could have shit through a screen door and left no remnants. Took over a year before I could smell KFC without triggering a gag reflex. I can eat it again, but I limit my intake. I swear they must refry the chicken on the all you can eat ones because one would have to actively try to make chicken that greasy.
