The Fall of the House of Dixie. Really good book. Basically explains how slavery infected southern culture like a tapeworm and made war inevitable.

This is a must read in preparation for round 2.

Not exactly the American Civil War but it's definitely a fantastic look at one of the people who helped trigger it.

Battle Cry for Freedom is my favorite too , Mary Chestnuts War Diary is fantastic too.

I made a note to read this. Is it good?

Only about 80 pages in but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Reynolds goes into pretty deep detail on his Puritan upbringing and other events that led him to become a fanatic abolitionist.

Army of the Potomac Series

Rebel Yell by S. C. Gwynne

A Blaze of Glory: A Novel of the Battle of Shiloh

Thanks, I'll read it when I get a chance.

Also, this is excellent.
