I always take the skin of my humans. It soaks up all the fat so its really high in calories.

I do this too, but I skin them after I'm done cooking so the meat stays juicy.

I like the Bosc version. Boscs are the pears with the greenish brown skin with a texture like sandpaper. I only buy them when the pears are very hard, because the pears are tarter and less messy. One of my favorite fruits.
Pears also make great pies.
