HP Lovecraft His world-building is wildly derivative of Poe and Bierce and his prose is abysmal. No discernible talent.
>Tolkien Literally the worst prose of all time. Also stole a lot of ideas from William Morris. No discernible talent.
>Dostoevsky Cheap sensationalism, clumsy and overwrought prose. Tolstoy's Anna Karenina alone is far superior to anything in Dostoevksy's oeuvre.
>Louis-Ferdinand Celine Despite his reactionary anti-semitism, Celine wrote from an anti-bourgeois, pro-working class perspective. He also influenced many leftists and *gasp* French postmodernists, such as Barthes and Genet. You may want to rethink his inclusion in this shitty list of yours.
>Ezra Pound Vorticism is trash and had zero influence on any subsequent art. No discernible talent.
>D.H. Lawrence Ironically his only lasting influence was on Deleuzians and feminists.
>Ernst Junger Please read Walter Benjamin's Theses of German Fascism if you truly believe Junger was a decent thinker, let alone one worthy of merit. Also, classifying him as an "artist" is a bit of a stretch.
>Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Terrible novelist and let's be honest, you've never read him and the only reason you've heard of him is because of some shitty Jordan Peterson video you watched on YouTube. The "statistics" in The Gulag Archipelago were pulled completely out of his own ass. Anyone using him as a historical authority on life in the early Soviet Union is being seriously grifted. Also a stretch to classify him as an "artist."
Blake Ward
>talking shit about Pound and Jünger This is just straight up philistinism.

Jünger was hardly /pol/. The nazis would've censored his book criticizing fascism, called "Auf den Marmorklippen", if it weren't for Hitler, who personally stopped them out of his respect for the veteran.
Connor Stewart
>Jünger was hardly /pol/ Certainly not true (in that he was most definitely situated on what would be the "far right"), but regardless, that does not make him any less of an artist and intellectual.
Ryan Kelly
They're right about Tolkien.
Jeremiah Cox
why did you choose to fight this proxy war on the book board instead of saying it to their faces
Anthony Peterson
/pol/ is just far right desu, it's monarchists, fascist, and misc nationalists. They aren't all national socialists ffs, especially the Poles.
Jack Flores
>Leftypol It's a fucking shithole. If this is your only exposure to "leftism" and you only try to refute them, then you wont be prepared for the vast amount of leftists who actually organise. I think I remember trying to get some people from /leftypol/, like "Bat'ko", to join a union in our country. They just ignored it, because they're a literal NEET who thinks "anarchosyndicalism" will win when they don't even know how to unionise, let alone enter a workplace.

>Tfw used to be anarcho syndicalist I know that feel desu. Sad part about most anarchists today is that most of them are either internet NEETS or edgelords who like to dress in black and throw bombs at people. Trying to actually unionize? >No Community outreach programs and charities designed in an anarchist manner? >No Trying to educate the masses about anarchist economics and philisophy >No
Instead let's just throw molotovs at people like criminals and circlejerk on the internet dude

Josiah Miller
you mean the reddit-esque syndicalist circlejerk of yore, with enlightned ones such as Sunhawk and butter-fucking-fly? lmfao
Aiden Roberts
It's not pathetic though. You're so insecure, darling.
Isaiah Phillips
Yeah this right wing loser doesn't have the intellectual depth to understand the abstract enjoyment of watching your wife get smashed. It's like a personalized painting, the bull is just a tool, the object, if it were just you having sex there would be to much personalized subject to create something beautiful, that's just base pleasure. You have to be able to step outside of the interaction and observe the form and sensuality as something higher, other. Cuckolding is the perfect mix, it requires a great intellect, some will never understand
Owen Powell
>You're so insecure, darling. kek is that how you rationalize letting another man rail your girl? you picture it as the ultimate act of male confidence?

Yes, even butterfly is a preferable alternative to you.

Lovercraft was a turgid georgian poet who was kind enough to apply that talent to fiction instead. >anime reaction pic >calls anyone subhuman hats off, brother kekistani
And I am heavily amused by the notion that only leftists despise didacticist hacks like Solzhenitsin.

>I am fond of The Hobbit, which is rarely pretentious, but The Lord of the Rings seems to be inflated, overwritten, tendentious, and moralistic in the extreme. Is it not a giant Period Piece?
>But there is still the burden of Tolkien's style: stiff, false archaic, overwrought, and finally a real hindrance in Volume III, The Return of the King, which I have had trouble rereading. At seventy-seven, I may just be too old, but here is The Return of the King, opened pretty much at random: >"At the doors of the Houses many were already gathered to see Aragorn, and they followed after him; and when at last he had supped, men came and prayed that he would heal their kinsmen or their friends whose lives were in peril through hurt or wound, or who lay under the Black Shadow. And Aragorn arose and went out, and he sent for the sons of Elrond, and together they labored far into the night. And word went through the city: ‘The King is come again indeed.' And they named him Elfstone, because of the green stone that he wore, and so the name which it was foretold at his birth that he should bear was chosen for him by his own people." >I am not able to understand how a skilled and mature reader can absorb about fifteen hundred pages of this quaint stuff. Why “hurt or wound”; are they not the same? What justifies the heavy King James Bible influence upon this style? Sometimes, reading Tolkien, I am reminded of the Book of Mormon. Tolkien met a need, particularly in the early days of the counterculture in the later 1960s. Whether he is an author for the duration of the twenty-first century seems to me open to some doubt.

Was Ezra Pound a Vorticist? I thought that was Wyndham Lewis. Noting Celine's "anti-bourgeois, working class perspective" doesn't do much, it would be the same as claiming Knut Hamsun for the Left. These were cynics well ahead of the curve, not the kind to fall for 19th century 1848 fantasies and delusions. Their perhaps regrettable endorsement of fascism stems from their non-bourgeois modernity. D.H. Lawrence, who seems more apolitical, also belongs to this category. I would hesitate to claim them as political authors at all. Too hard on Junger, stinks of bitterness. I don't know why he treats Benjamin's essays like God revelation. Post-war German intellectual circles are full of this shitflinging. It is not as if people of left-wing disposition don't like Junger's work.
These authors should cease being thought of primarily in political terms. Politics is hell-disgusting. False consciousness. Warped evil lenses. People's appetites for politics is like their appetite for their own sexual fetishes. Selfish, crude and rude. Reading things of the realm of politics - distinct from reading all books as if they were political erotic novels, to satiate some hungry little obsession of mine.
Adrian Gomez

Like leftypol would know who Ernst Junger is.
Kevin Wood
Hey 4/pol/, it must be exciting you just found out where /leftypol/ is but you don't have to shit on them on Veeky Forums of all places. If anything, those damn Marxist-Leninist Armchair revolutionaries read more than any other board besides this one.

No, I ironically believe all that. I was obviously hamming it up for them. Time to read Stirner, budd-o.

No, Pound was an imagist and friend of Lewis, the progenitor of Vorticism.

>Associating Pound with Vorticism and not with his later Cantos, which are some of the absolute finest poems ever fucking written >Being needlessly contrarian about Dostoevsky to the point of disagreeing with Mikhail fucking Bakhtin about him >Solzhenitsyn was a terrible novelist and The Red Wheel isn't one of the finest long-form polyphonic novels No fucking way these people are real
Ayden King
Pound wrote for a last and signed the Manifesto of Vorticism, but Vorticism as a whole is really just footnote in both his career and Wyndham Lewis's. It was ultimately a failed project, and Pound really should be remembered for his Pisan Cantos (And Lewis for Revenge for Love/Tarr/The Vulgar Streak)
