I POSTED IT AGAIN
The 2017 Corvette has leaf springs
>If it aint broke, dont fix it!
The fuck is wrong with transverse leaves?
Why not?
the other way around actually, regular leaf springs are progressive rate and coil springs are linear.
The actual problem with leaf springs is there is friction between the blades, so the damping is all over the place. Most leaf springs are also used as suspension arms, and they do a shit job at it.
Both of these problems aren't a issue in the corvette rear suspension, so the coice between coils or the carbon fibre monoleafs are just preference.
If I'm not mistaken, the only way that a leaf spring can be progressive is if they're stacked, like on a pick-up truck (corvette only has one). Where as springs like the one in the picture, are progressive with the difference in spacing between the different coils.
You can have progressive coils as well afaik but yeah leaves are progressive, all you need is a tapered leaf ignoring packing arrangements. Transverse leaves can be great though, they package way better
Iirc every Corvette ever had leafs on the rear. They said they won't change it, because of "heritage" or something like "it was in every Corvette, so if we change it, it won't be a Corvette anymore" bullshit
>meanwhile they're working on an MR Corvette because they got BTFO by the Ford GT
LOOOOOOOOOOOL
Ikr, Chevy makes no fucking sense. Besides, I would probably handle so much better if it didn't have fucking truck springs.
