well i mean you can do both even on the same day but to be devil's advocate:
for general athleticism, speed DLs with chains/bands a la WESTSIDE BABBY, also really helps your confidence with heavy loads in my experience
paused DL if your form is shit. also makes for good hammie training if you're lacking, but so do stiff legs and RDLs. this will probably contribute to a max attempt more than speed deadlifts though
tl;dr for /plg/ paused is better
