my jerk is really limiting cause of timing problems I have from lack of time spent in the sport a lack of overhead stability and a relative lack of upperbody strength when compared to my legs ability to generate power, I could probably clean like 120-130 rn but no way in hell could I jerk it(despite being able to jerk drive it high enough to do so which is even weirder)

Not gonna lie, this is kind of why I switched. I hated that I have to basically do sumo or lose out, only lowbar wide stance with a belt and wrap everything to the point of ridiculousness or lose out, bend my back as much as possible to squeeze out that extra 20 pounds on a bench or lose out.

Weightlifting is more dynamic, more fun to train. Its all about how much weight you can get over your head.

No offense to powerlifters, some of you fucks are strong as shit. I just don't like the things you need to do to maximize the lift.

Jerking has almost nothing to do with arm strength. You should catch the bar with arms fully extended. If you feel like you struggle holding over your head you may have mobility issues in your shoulders.

That's just wrong lad, although sumo is dominant in the lower weight classes, it gets a 50/50 split in use with the higher ones (83+ iirc, might be 93)

I wish I could snatch. I got into WL from crossfit in the Marines, but I had no teachers and poor wrist mobility. I now have permanent pain in both wrists, mostly my right, that makes cleans painful but bearable, and snatches absolutely unbearable. Can't even snatch 95lbs without extreme pain even with wrist wraps. FeelsBadMan

I have had bad left calf pain from squatting. Failed my set today because of it. I feel it even when front squatting or bodyweight squatting.
I think some possible culprits are:
tight hamstring(left heel raises during lift sometimes)
weak quads
something else is tight

I have oly shoes but it is entirely possible I am not flexible enough for the lift. Any suggestions are appreciated.

My best squat is 182.5 kg. That's still definitely GDE territory.

I had this issue a few weeks ago. I fixed it by getting my glutes and quads more involved in the lift.
