As long as the gains are coming I'm happy, even if they are slow. The gym is honestly one of the things I look forward to most, it's like meditation and really therapeutic for me

A narrow-ish, moderate decline bench is better for pure pec development for most people, though flat bench is a more useful exercise all around.
Put your hand on your opposite pec while you do different bench movements with that arm to see what gets the most activation.
