Be me

>be me
>manlet
>start going to gym
>see some gains, but not that many because just freestyling with no plan
>be six months ago
>start stronglifts 5x5
>follow it religiously
>pretty much doubles my weight on everything
>now I'm a slightly more toned manlet

Is 5x5 a meme? Where are my gains? It's been half a year, and I don't see any real progress

You've trained for strength and you're surprised your muscles haven't hypertophied?

p h u l

SL is a beginner routine, move onto something else retard

5x5 is for strength training, not for gaining a lot of size

So should someone use this to build strength and move to something different, or just start with something different?

Like others have said, Strictly 5x5 is only for gaining strength, to gain bigger muscles you need to add some 3-5x8-12 in there, maybe even some 5-6x15-20.
Low Weight/High Reps = Bigger Muscles. Hyperplasia.
High Weight/Low Reps = Stronger Muscles. Hypertrophy.
Find a new routine that includes 8-12 rep exercises.

SL (which is SS repackaged) is great for enabling you to lift non baby weights within a year. That's all.

If you're just starting out, it would be good to build overall strength so you can move on to other, more advanced exercises (pull ups, dips, leg raises, ect), so it's not like you wasted your time doing 5x5. Just change your routine up if you wanna start getting bigger

>pretty much doubles my weight on everything
>Where are my gains?

?????????????????????????????

I’m very sorry to inform you, but you don’t know what you’re talking about, because there’s no conclusive literature.

You don't make new muscle cells dumbass. All muscle growth is hypertrophy.

Yeah this. What the fuck do you mean OP?

he means he didn't grow 6 inches and is still a manlet

>double your lifts
>didn't get any bigger

Doubt it.

>because there’s no conclusive literature.
Oh yeah, there's just the experience of virtually every coach or bodybuilder out there, but let's forget this because we don't have enough conclusive studies with 14 people divided into two groups (5 of which will drop out due to personal reasons) and a 2-month program to confirm that for us ~scientifically~.

Eat a dick you retard. DYEL faggots need to shut the fuck up about le conclusive scientific evidence already.

I mean, I can lift more, but I look basically the same as when I started, just with some fat burned.

8-12 reps seems like the answer tho, so thanks user

You did 15 sets of squat every week for 6 months and your legs didn't grow ?

it's all cns and form adaptions retard.

Stop being autistic, its just an easy way to tell people that volume matters more for growth.

Isn't UL less volume than full body? How could UL ever be beneficial for anyone?
