In the same boat, but think you don't need to go to art school to produce good art but to get into a lot of jobs you need a STEM degree. I'm doing the same but with writing, Have it as a hobby.

those are not the same. any moron can learn how to program, however well. computer science, at least at good unis, is more of an "information engineering" degree. of course, programming is mostly taught within the courses, but a) nobody gets good by just doing those courses and b) you certainly don't need them to learn programming.
also, programming has a big creative part. it's math plus creativity, if done right.
