So I wanted to read about "alpha males" and I discovered that scientists don't accept it as a thing among Humans, only bonobos, wolves, and capuchin monkeys.
What the hell? Why hasn't anybody researched this among humans? Till now I assumed it was a scientific fact, and I expect most on this faggot website do too
Or maybe... It's such an uncomfortable subject that no one is willing to fund research into it
I think alpha male behavior in humans is less about physical strength, like it is in other species, but more about the mental strength of the person.
Brayden Bell
it's not taken seriously because it's mostly a meme, most guys have no problem getting laid but you will always end up with websites like Veeky Forums full of virgins who can't get laid perpetuating the alpha/beta dichotomy
Adrian Williams
Epic idea dude but I'm looking for evidence. If I wanted baseless ideas that sound correct I'd go to literally any other board
Brayden Kelly
why would you believe humans have it?
>only bonobos, wolves, and capuchin monkeys and what other animals have alpha males leading a troop? what animals don't have this. why should we be one over the other?
And Bonobos? Are you kidding? Hardly any male bonobo behavior could be described as "alpha".
Jack Evans
Well... Look at where your average hyper-macho, aggressive, stacked "alpha" male actually is in the hierarchy of our society. Is he at the top? Or is he working class?
Maybe he's got some of the behavioral traits of an "alpha", but he doesn't usually fill the role of leading a pack. At best, he's maybe a restaurant manager or something. Usually, he's so cantankerous and unpleasant, he doesn't make it that far.
Hunter Walker
human societies are much more complex than just tribal packs of bonobos. reducing it to just "oh, alpha male" won't cut it as a scientific explanation for humans.
Nicholas Anderson
>why should we be one over the other? We are one over the other in our current society. So my natural assumption is that we were always like that and that some people getting a lot and some starving to death is encoded into our genes
