I`ve been indoctrinated by /pol/ in my puberty. I became unironically 18/88 and even tried to become politically engaged.

I have been isolated long after, but when i think about it, it was my views which isolated me, i just could not stand normal people any more, because their lifestyle was something i viewed as shallow and hedonistic now.

Some years have passed, and it´s really strange to see all these patterns. I went from /pol/ mindset into a psychiatry and have been reversed engineered there. I was normed completely on societies ideology, still critical, still seeing flaws, but "blue pilled" on many topics.

I think what became was that i had developed a mindset like a "masochistic" character, who is not able to accept aggression to the outside.

After being treated wrong by a woman, which is also something which threw me into full 18/88 at first, i became angry again and said "fuck it, no i won´t accept those lies any more."

Now i feel more alive and less over-socialised. I can like myself again because i allow myself to be angry and to hate.

I believe that what makes a person become a liberal is the same thing that could make it a fascist: ideals.

By socially interacting with other people you are exposed to their ideals and, depending on many factors like your current ideals, your mood, the value you put on said people , you may change your inner beliefs.

When a person is socially isolated, it can still shape its ideals by being exposed to values in "indirect" forms like books, movies and, of course, imageboards.

Veeky Forums is kind of a hub for lonely or anyway introverted people in general, thus the fact that most heavy /pol/ followers are lonely people is just a coincidence, they happen to come here, they find the board and on the basis of their current state they find the values in there as reasonable and thus they accept them.

Social isolation causes disconnection to reality in general, OP, not just in the form of /pol/tardism. You see, Veeky Forums is a cheap form of attaining both entertainment and social interaction, so people tend to use it to satisfy themselves when they're going through a particularly bad time in their lives. It's really, no different from any other "addiction". You'd find a research with lab rats that proved that addiction to drugs is actually caused by unhappiness, especially social isolation.

Though I still believe that people who are passing through this phase are still pretty easily capable of rejoining society once they find a fitting enough opportunity to fix their problems. Tbhwy, you're overblowing the problem. As you said, this commonly manifested in the past as alcoholic abuse and yet everything was fine back then. Unhealthy addictions due to social isolation weren't so uncommon back then, and honestly, internet addiction is one of the least damaging ones compared to others.

I've been thinking the same thing. It goes for many people on Veeky Forums, actually. They are isolated, so they try to isolate themselves further either by taking on views seen by most as.. horrible, or by being generally edgy, etc. This serves the purpose of making themselves seem to have agency over their isolation, and they can also convince themselves that they are completely justified in this; everyone else is wrong, everyone is shit, everyone is stupid, blablablah. It's an interesting theory and like many others here is it applies to me. Journalism is a comedy of errors, there are thousands of opinionated articles all claiming to be the truth when in reality the days of Walter Cronkite are gone. You look at these articles and then you see that there are dozens of unnamed sources, you also start to see a pattern of the same phrases being used across different news networks. They also like to have misleading headlines just to get users to click on the article so they get a profit. Half of it may be them pushing some sort of agenda, but mostly it's because they're incompetent morons who don't want to bother doing their job in finding the truth. They write their articles in a half assed CD CM format, give it a shocking /interesting headline and pump it out before anyone else can.

Then there's cable news which is utter garbage. The only place they get thier profits from are old bitties and McDonalds waiting lines (If your Mcdonalds has a TV that is). They love using the bell toll sound effect and other graphical alerts to keep the audiences attention;
