There seems to be a misconception that evolution or natural selection is this smooth, gradual process. It's not. There will always be smart/capable/powerful/cunning people on this planet. At some point there will be an entity that is majorly composed of individuals bearing these traits who will either survive the others, or neutralize them themselves. It doesn't matter if they're outnumbered 10:1, there is no good in numbers and humanity has been through mass death events before, we'd just start a new strain.
