Dune Thread
I wouldn't remove my hand no problem. Got my hand stuck in a sander once and it sanded down to the bone but I didn't cry because I'm a big guy.
I have no thoughts of Frank Herbert's "Dune"
my blade hath chipped and shattered

dumb star wars ripoff
Actually the first edition of "Dune" came 12 years before "Star Wars".
How big was Leo's worm dick
It was an action packed page turner. The world building was spectacular in the sense that every word or object blended into his writing. He was good at describing geography, but that's basically the only thing he described in detail. I enjoyed how much a seamless blend of fantasy and sci-fi it was. I had problems with it though. Every character was one dimensional. Every chapter was either set up or execution of the plot. His writing left most things to the imagination. Instead of a few paragraphs describing a worms look and action in the vast desert, he would just write "lol there was a big worm over yonder". I really enjoyed it and can't wait to watch the movie with a fresh eye, but would I spend time reading the sequels? Probably not for a long time, there's far more important things I have in my backlog.
Didn't like it. His characters were boring, his prose was flat, and his plot was shit.
cry like a bitch because you ain't shit in the sietch no more, bud
definitely got the same vibe when reading it, kinda surprised that herbert never got sued over that
i think this was on everyone's wish list for god emperor of dune to reveal, and instead it was blabbing on and on about some golden path
Dune ripped off Lensman
Hey I didn't want this post to die. Can someone convince me to read this thing?
99 problems but the sietch ain't one
hit me
do it for the memes
I started reading this book but it just rips of star wars. Why do people like this book when it is plagerism?
Dune is a ripoff of ASOIAF. Hebert just took Game of Thrones and put it in outer space.
dune is a ripoff of flaubert
herbbre just took madame bocary and ppppp
(You)
Probably the most over-rated SF novel of all time. Terrible writing, terrible characters, idiot plot (full of plot homes), and padded worse than a 12 year old Asian girl's bra on prom night.
The fact that SF readers praise it is proof most people who read a lot of SF are morons.
It's basically GTA San Andreas with giant worms and spice.
First ripping off Star Wars and then that shit? Damn Frank, you sly ass bitch.
>spice mining
Makes no fucking sense. Mining for peppers. I stake a claim on muh cinnamon
I'm about to start God Emperor, what am I in for?
The best book in the series.
Lots of miners died of pepperlung just so you can have the convenience of black pepper for everyday use.
the third best book in the series
>muh Golden Path
>muh lesbian fish army
>muh Big Duncan Cock
t. The Stolen Journals
>tfw you ripped off huge parts of Dune for your own autistic writing
>tfw realize that Dune has basically defined the rules of what is and isn't okay in scifi/fantasy for you
I've never read Dune but Shai Hulud is one of my favorite bands.
I'm in love with these books, have any of you seen the Japanese covers for them omg japs are so fucking lucky first check out the first book for heretics of dune and tell me this doesn't look like an epic anime movie and yes that is young Duncan in a x tank. And you can tell the Japanese fell I love with these books. Fucking badass
Here's the 2nd book for heretics of dune
Disagree, original US covers are GOAT. This is some cyberpunk mecha anime trash that does not belong anywhere near dune.
And 3rd book of hod, yes all the covers for all the books look this bad ass I want to say that's teg I'm not sure
Meh to each his own I know after seeing these , that's how I envision the dune world now.
incredibly over rated and I still don't know why. Reddit has such a hard on for this book but it's average to above average, certainly nothing amazing. I seriously do not understand.
/sffg/ is that way.
